Deciding whether to use text scaling or page zooming depends on whether you wish to also scale the page’s format and content as well.
Text scaling only adjusts the size of the text on web pages. Page zooming magnifies or minifies all the of the web page’s contents.

Text scaling in Opera
If font on web pages is too small or too big for you to comfortably read, you can change the size of font in Opera’s settings.
Scaling text in Opera is recommended if you wish for text to be adjusted on all web pages. Text size cannot be adjusted site-by-site.
Please note that not all websites can have their text scaled. Some websites have fixed font sizes.
Other content such as images or video frames will not scale when adjusting text size. Image above shows, from left to right, text size as very small, to medium (default), to very large.
How do I scale text in Opera?
To scale text in Opera, go to Settings > Appearance and select a size from the dropdown box next to Font size.
Changing the font size for web pages only affects the text on a web page. Images and other content in a web page will not scale. Be aware that using very large font sizes may cause text to overlap with other content on the page.
The scaling of text can be further adjusted by clicking Customize fonts. Here you can set limits to how big or how small various sizes of text should be. In addition, you can change font styles.
How to reset font size and style to their default settings
If you wish to reset font size and styles to their defaults:
- Go to Settings.
- Click Advanced in the left sidebar, and click Browser.
- Under Reset settings, click Restore settings to their original defaults.
- In the Reset browser settings pop-up box, click Reset.
Page zooming in Opera
Adjusting zoom level scales all content for web pages. If the content of a web page does not suitably fit onto your screen, adjusting the zoom level is the preferred method for scaling content. Page zoom levels can be customized site-by-site.
All content is affected by adjusting zoom levels in web pages.
How do I set the fixed zoom level for all websites in Opera?
You can set a default zoom level for all websites in Opera.
To do this, go to Settings > Appearance > Page zoom, and select the page zoom level you wish to have for all websites.
How do I set the level of zoom for individual websites in Opera?
If you wish to set the zoom level for a single website, use the keyboard shortcuts Ctrl (or ⌘) + +/- to zoom in or out. The level you set for the page will be indicated by the magnifying glass icon in the right side of the combined address and search bar.
Opera remembers the zoom level you set for individual websites. You can view and delete custom zoom levels in settings.
To do this:
- Go to Settings.
- Click Advanced in the left sidebar, then click Privacy & security.
- Under Privacy and security, click Content settings.
- Click Zoom levels.
Individually defined zoom levels overrides the fixed level of page zoom for all web pages.
