Dialogs
Press Page Down and Page Up to switch slides
This page describes some of the different dialog boxes in Opera.
Start-up dialog
If you want to decide which pages to start with every time you start up Opera, enable the start-up dialog in the "General" preferences. Note that the start-up dialog will always be displayed after Opera has been forced to close or otherwise has quit unexpectedly.
Tip: Try starting with no pages if you have problems starting Opera.
Session dialog
When you have multiple tabs or windows open in Opera, you can save their addresses to disk as a "session". This allows you to later load the session file, on startup or in the middle of another session, to get the tabs back.
Delete private data
This dialog helps you to delete information about your browsing activities if you are working on a shared computer, but be sure not to erase useful data inadvertently.
Warning: After deleting private data you may have to re-enter various passwords and set up preferences on Web sites again.

Appearance
This is the dialog where you can completely alter Opera's look and feel.

Crashlog Report dialog
When Opera crashes, a dialog displays asking if you want to send a report about the problem. The report includes technical details of the crash, and any relevant comments you wish to include. This information helps make Opera even more stable and reliable. Just click "Send Report" to send details of the crash error.
Report a site problem
Some Web sites and services may not function exactly as you would expect in Opera. This could be caused by Web site authors tailoring their services for one particular Web browser.
If a site is not displaying or behaving correctly in Opera, let us know by using this dialog while the site in question is your active page. Specify how severe you think the problem is, and add a comment if you think it is called for.
Some information about your computer and browser settings will be sent to Opera to help find the cause of the site problem. Click the "details" button on the dialog to see this information.
If you are convinced you have found a defect related to the browser itself, please report it as a bug.
Download file
The download dialog appears when you download a file.
Click "Open" to save the file in the download directory and open it when it has been downloaded.
Click "Save" to specify where to save the file. After the file has been downloaded, open it by double-clicking in the Downloads panel.
Note: Use virus-protection software before executing downloaded files.

Delete message
When you delete an e-mail message from an ordinary view, it is not actually deleted, but moved to the Trash view. To get back a deleted message, open the Trash view and click the "Undelete" button.
To delete a message permanently, delete it from the Trash view. To delete all messages in trash, Ctrl-click the Mail panel and select "Empty trash".
Certificate warning
Certificates are used to verify that a Web site is secure to use. Most of the time certificates are fully valid and you can proceed safely with your business.
If there is something questionable about a certificate, a warning dialog will be displayed. You may choose to proceed, but full security cannot be guaranteed at this point.
Server certificate expired
Certificates like credit cards have an expiry date, and must be renewed on a regular basis by the people maintaining the site.
Accepting an expired certificate does not necessarily reduce security, however take into consideration which site you are visiting and how long since the certificate expired.
Wrong certificate name
A certificate is issued by an authority for a single site to use, and sites cannot borrow certificates from each other as this invalidates the whole concept of certificates.
Accepting a certificate belonging to another site is not recommended.
Certificate signer not found
Certificates are signed by an authority. For example, the secure version of the University of Oslo Web site is authorized by the Thawte organization.
If the signer of a certificate is not found in your list of authorities, you should not accept the certificate unless you have a confident relation with the Web site.
Some certificates are self-signed, that is, signed by the person or organization running the site, and not an authority. Trusting a self-signed certificate from, for example, your employer can be considered as safe.
If you know that the signer can be trusted, and you want all sites using this signer to be considered as safe, install the certificate to add the signer to your regular list of authorities.
Tip: To see your list of authorities, click in the security preferences.
